Here are some of the thought-provoking findings from the “Future Forum Pulse Report Winter 2022-2023”:

  1. Flexibility and Organizational Cultures :
    • Flexible workers, those with the ability to adjust where they work, are equally or more likely to feel connected to their immediate teams compared to fully in-office workers. They also feel more connected to their direct manager and their company’s values.
    • Employees cite flexible work policies as the number one factor that has improved their company culture over the past two years.
  2. Burnout Trends :
    • Burnout continues to rise globally, with 42% of the workforce reporting it. This is a slight increase (2% rise) from the previous quarter and an all-time high since May 2021, when Future Forum began measuring employee burnout.
    • Employees dissatisfied with their level of flexibility at work are 43% more likely to report feeling burned out compared to those satisfied with their flexibility.
  3. Productivity and Flexibility :
    • Executives cite declining productivity as their second most serious concern regarding flexible work.
    • However, flexible work is associated with higher productivity, especially among workers with schedule flexibility.
  4. Transparency and Job Satisfaction :
    • Employees who perceive their companies as transparent have 8.8 times greater job satisfaction than those who don’t.
    • Employees who believe their company isn’t transparent about post-pandemic remote working policies are 2.3 times more likely to look for a new position in the coming year. Interestingly, while 73% of executives believe they are very transparent, only 41% of employees agree.
  5. Technology and Employee Experience :
    • Employees at companies described as technology innovators have higher employee experience scores on all dimensions compared to those at companies described as technology laggards. This includes:
      • 1.6 times higher scores on productivity.
      • 2 times higher scores on the ability to focus.
      • 2.2 times higher scores on the sense of belonging.
      • 2.8 times higher scores on overall satisfaction.
    • Workers at companies perceived as technology laggards are 31% more likely to report feeling burned out than those at innovative companies.

These findings underscore the importance of flexibility, transparency, and technological innovation in shaping employee experiences, productivity, and overall well-being.
